Position summary SEACC seeks a motivated community connector to advance campaigns by strengthening our outreach and relationships throughout Southeast Alaska. This role is responsible for public outreach and engagement, relationship building, planning and supporting community events, and driving Alaskans to take action on SEACC’s campaigns to protect Southeast Alaska’s air, lands, and waters. The ideal candidate is energized in social situations and confident in a crowd or on a stage, and they have the ability to find common ground with people of all backgrounds. Some evening and weekend work, as well as travel throughout Southeast Alaska, is essential for this role to reach community members and be present for community events. Primary Responsibilities: Plan and support community events to educate the public, engage volunteers, and create opportunities for community members to take action; Develop and strengthen relationships with new and current supporters and partner organizations, and the communities we serve; Help gather and share impactful stories from volunteers, community members, and other stakeholders, and share these through the organizations’ social media, emails, and in donor communications in collaboration with communications and development staff; Mobilize Alaskans to take action on environmental issues using a variety of tactics: event attendance, 1:1’s, calls, letters, petition signature gathering, in-person meetings, celebrations, etc.; Accurately and efficiently enter and manage data and log contacts in our database of donors and supporters; Coordinate and organize all print materials and supplies for tabling and other community events; Manage merchandise inventory and online and in-person sales. Required Skills and Qualifications: Ability and desire to build and maintain meaningful relationships with partners and stakeholders; Experience and commitment to strengthening racial justice, equity, and inclusion throughout an organization, in campaigns, and with partners; Demonstrated initiative and ability to work well independently and on a team; Ability to inspire action in others, lead by example, and instill purpose into daily campaign operations of the organization; Ability to maintain a positive attitude and solution-based approach in high-pressure or difficult situations; Strong communication skills and aptitude for collaborative teamwork; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, respond quickly to emerging opportunities, and be flexible to adapt to changing circumstance; A self starter who strives to find ways to contribute to common goals; Motivated people person who enjoys engaging with the public and is passionate about protecting Southeast Alaska’s land, air and waters. *We know there is not one ideal candidate who has all of these traits - if you have a mix of interests, skills, and experience related to the above, and a passion for this work - please don’t let a gap in your strengths for this role stop you from applying or reaching out. Additional Skills and Qualifications: Experience with community organizing, electoral campaigns, or civic engagement; Experience with co-creating community driven projects with tribal/indigenous partners; Experience with identifying and capturing individual and community stories; Experience with writing and designing to inspire community action; Experiencing with building and managing online community; Experience with EveryAction or similar databases; Experience with Google Workspace applications; Knowledge of Southeast communities outside of Juneau. Compensation: This role is a full-time (40 hours), non-exempt position, and the pay range is between $25-33/hour with exact pay dependent upon experience. We also offer excellent benefits including: 3 weeks of paid leave your first year and 4 weeks of paid leave after one year, plus 11 federal and state holidays, plus fully paid healthcare for the employee, plus 12 days of medical leave annually, plus 2 days of community service or participation leave, plus a 401K plan with a 5% match that begins after just one year of employment, and In addition, the Executive Director closes the office between Christmas Day and New Year’s Day each year as a thank you to the staff! Where you will work: SEACC’s office is located in Juneau, Alaska. Due to the nature of this role we require that candidates are located in Juneau or are willing to relocate. Work Travel: This role will include some required work travel to organize in communities throughout Southeast Alaska, represent SEACC at community events, and participate in regional and statewide coalition meetings.
