Job DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Project Accountant to support a large-scale state-funded construction project. This role is critical in ensuring accurate financial management, compliance, and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in construction project accounting, proficiency with industry-specific software, and a solid understanding of project controls.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesManage all project-related accounting functions, including job cost tracking, invoicing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reportingMonitor and analyze project costs to ensure alignment with approved budgets and funding requirementsTrack, analyze, and validate change orders or amendments, ensuring accurate cost capture and budget alignmentPrepare monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and cash flow projections for project stakeholdersCollaborate closely with project managers, estimators, and project controls teams to maintain financial accuracyProcess and track subcontractor payments, invoices, and change ordersEnsure compliance with state regulations, contract requirements, and audit standardsMaintain accurate documentation for audits and reporting purposesSupport funding draw requests and grant compliance, if applicableTrack and report Minority Business Enterprise (MBE), Women Business Enterprise (WBE), and Veteran Business Enterprise (VBE) participation in accordance with state and contract requirementsMonitor subconsultant compliance with diversity participation goals and funding provisionsSupport preparation and submission of required diversity and inclusion reports to state agenciesMaintain accurate records of certified vendors and participation percentagesAssist with audits and reviews related to minority participation and equal opportunity complianceReview, track, and maintain Certificates of Insurance (COIs) for partners and subconsultants to ensure compliance with contractual and state requirements, including coverage limits and expiration datesIdentify and implement process improvements across accounting, project management, and reporting systemsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance5+ years of experience in construction or project accounting, preferably on large public or state-funded projectsProficiency in construction/project management software (e.g., Primavera P6, Procore, Autodesk)Strong understanding of project controls, cost management, and forecasting methodologiesExperience with government compliance, audits, and reporting requirements is highly preferredAdvanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilitiesStrong planning, organizing, and problem-solving skillsBenefitsVanir offers a comprehensive, competitive benefits package that includes 401(k) Savings with employer matching contributions, medical, dental, vision, health savings account (HSA) with employer contributions, life, AD&D and disability benefits, flexible spending account (FSA), voluntary benefits, Teladoc, pet insurance, paid time off, national employee assistance program (EAP) and employee referral program.How to ApplyIf you're interested in working for Vanir please visit our website to learn more and to apply online at .VEVRAA Federal ContractorRequest Priority Protected Veteran ReferralsEOE Minorities/Females/Protected Veterans/DisabledContact Email: careers@vanir.comPersons with medical limitations may, with reasonable accommodations, be capable of performing the duties of this position.
