Leidos Defense Systems Manufacturing is seeking to hire a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Colorado Manufacturing team supporting a stand-alone manufacturing facility performing work supporting the Department of Defense and our nation’s war fighters. This role will serve as a Senior Engineer for manufacturing activities at CMF in support of two major DoD Programs. This role will work closely with the engineering team at the Colorado Manufacturing Facility. This is not a remote position and will be performed on second shift. As a Manufacturing Engineer you will be overseeing and optimizing the production process, from raw materials to finished products, to ensure efficiency and quality. This position will support our Thermal Protection System (TPS). This position will require frequent coordination with Planning & Production Control, Quality Engineers, and Operations Leads to ensure that mBOMs are up to date, design tooling that will be needed for manufacturing, lead times are documented, and work order instructions will be available when needed and that proper documentation is in place for floor operations. Apply and share your resume with us today! Primary Responsibilities Implementing procedures & techniques to transform raw materials into finished products efficiently and effectively. Use of MES software (Solumina) to implement, track, monitor, and control manufacturing processes, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance. Generation and maintenance of Manufacturing Bill of Materials (mBOMS). Generate routings inside Solumina to account for accurate run times. Identify and execute on continuous improvement projects. Identify and reduce risks in the production processes. Plan and maintain production flow through MRP system, including change management and make/buy designation. Responsible for executing Configuration & Data Management processes & controls for managing & tracking changes. Defines manufacturing processes, procedures and production flow for assembly, integration & test of products. Coordinate production workflow for one or multiple projects. Organize and schedule production activities, and resources, including materials, equipment, and personnel, to meet production goals. Resolve problems related to production jobs such as configuration changes, engineering changes, material issues, schedule priority, etc. Overseeing & optimizing the production process, from raw materials to finished products, to ensure efficiency and quality. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality Assurance, Operations Leads, and Inventory Control. Expedite jobs as required & clearing any material shortages. Manage ISO9001/AS9100 processes within the department. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Industrial and Systems Engineering with minimum 4 years of applicable experience. Must be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multi-disciplinary teams. Experience with CNC Mill and Lathe machining. Critical thinking experience. Six years of experience with Manufacturing, Assembly & Integration experience with machining, and/or mechanical components. Experience with utilizing MRP and experience with ERP/PLM/MES systems. Proficient understanding of GD&T. Experience with ISO9001/AS9100 processes. Experience with contactless structured blue light scanning Intermediate proficiency with SolidWorks. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Candidate must be a resident of the Colorado Springs area or willing to relocate to the Colorado Springs, CO area. Candidate must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Secret Clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience with manufacturing, assembly, integration, procedure development & implementation with composite machining. Hands-on experience with machining, mechanical and/or structural assembly processes and equipment including some of these: mechanical assembly, composite machining, etc. Extensive experience with contactless structured blue light scanning Experience in project scheduling, Windchill configuration management & Solumina MES software. 6 Sigma and Lean experience for solid RCA capabilities. Experience in data analytics and data querying. PFMEA’s, Capability studies, Gauge R&R. Deltek, Costpoint ERP & MRP, Solumina, Windchill. Experience with AS6500 manufacturing management program.
