The Outreach and Volunteer Specialist

Job Summary

  • This position supports the communications and marketing department with communications and short-term volunteer management.
  • Primary responsibilities include coordinating and representing the Center at outreach and community tabling events and maintaining tabling supplies and promotional item inventory Center-wide.
  • The outreach and volunteer specialist also identifies, screens, tracks and manages short-term volunteers for the benefit of the McNabb Center programs.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate the Center's outreach and community tabling events including scheduling, packing supplies and set up & attendance.
  • Maintain tabling supplies and promotional item inventory for Center. Fulfill team member requests for supplies and quality check tabling materials before distribution.
  • Organize distribution, placement and removal of awareness materials for selected awareness months
  • Recruit, vet, interview and onboard volunteer applicants as appropriate
  • Record and track all Center-related volunteer hours.
  • Conduct outreach to expand volunteerism within Center programs.
  • Support events (Center & Foundation) as needed.
  • This job requires occasional travel to the Center's outlying counties, including Anderson, Blount, Claiborne, Cocke, Hamblen, Hamilton and Sevier.
  • This position is an in-person, non-exempt, hourly position with night and weekend shifts based on event schedules.
  • This position is based at 200 Tech Center Drive, Knoxville, TN.

COMPENSATION:

  • Starting salary for this position is approximately $23.56 /hr based on relevant experience and education.

QUALIFICATIONS - Outreach and Volunteer Specialist

Education / Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree from accredited institution in communications, marketing, human resources or related field required.
  • Four years of comparable experience may be substituted for Bachelor's Degree.

Education / License :

  • Applicant must be highly organized, with strong communication skills.
  • Some experience with marketing, sales or event planning preferred.

Physical:

  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.
