The Engineering Specialist I is an entry-level engineering role responsible for supporting design, analysis, and project execution activities under the guidance of senior engineers. This position applies fundamental engineering principles to perform basic tasks, contribute to project deliverables, and develop technical skills through hands-on experience and mentorship.
Responsibilities Engineering Support & Technical Work
• Perform basic design and engineering tasks using standard techniques and procedures
• Assist with calculations, analysis, and preparation of engineering deliverables
• Support development of reports, permit applications, and technical documentation
• Participate in field activities, including site visits and data collection Project & Task Execution
• Manage assigned tasks and ensure completion within defined deadlines and scope
• Follow established processes, standards, and engineering practices
• Work under the direction of senior engineers and project leads Learning & Professional Development
• Develop foundational knowledge of engineering concepts, tools, and industry standards
Gain mentored experience under the supervision of licensed engineers
• Actively seek feedback and apply learning to improve technical skills Team Collaboration
• Collaborate with engineers and project team members to support project objectives • Participate in team discussions and contribute to project deliverables
• Engage in limited stakeholder interaction as appropriate Health, Safety & Compliance
Follow all health and safety requirements, including OSHA standards for fieldwork
• Adhere to company policies, engineering standards, and ethical guidelines
Qualifications
• Basic understanding of engineering principles and industry concepts
• Ability to apply standard techniques and procedures to assigned tasks
• Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
• Basic problem-solving skills with the ability to escalate complex issues
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a tecatam environment
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program required
• 0-2 years of relevant experience (internships or academic project experience preferred)
Licenses & Certifications
• Working toward Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred
• OSHA 10-hour Construction certification required for fieldwork
